Drums and Chapman Stick Performances

“The Chapman Stick (The Stick) is an electric musical instrument devised by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970s. A member of the guitar family, the Chapman Stick usually has ten or twelve individually tuned strings and has been used on music recordings to play bass lines, melody lines, chords, or textures. Designed as a fully polyphonic chordal instrument, it can also cover several of these musical parts simultaneously.” Wikipedia

Performed by Davide Calabretta and Giovanni Zaccaria

This video clip showcases the totally unique sounds of the Chapman Stick guitar, performed by the very talented Wayne Monger (on Chapman Stick) & Tom Jackson (on drums). It sounds like a full band performing, however it’s just two guys recorded live in the studio.

Chapman Stick (solo) Guy Mauffait (Flower of Novembre). Allaire, France, Bretagne.
